Rangers returned to Ibrox for the first time this season with a statement victory, cruising past Dundee 3-0 to secure their place in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals. In a match that had plenty of excitement, Cyriel Dessers delivered the goods, while our captain James Tavernier got up and running by scoring a penalty.

Ibrox Return and Hampden Ironic Twist!

There’s no place like Ibrox, and it felt like home was calling as Rangers ran out comfortable winners in front of the Light Blues faithful. The irony? After being forced to play at Hampden earlier in the season, our semi-final now brings us back there!

It was great to see the boys back on home soil, and they didn’t disappoint. From the opening minutes, it was clear the team was hungry for more silverware this season. There were a few nervy moments, but the result was never in doubt.

Cyriel Dessers: The Goals Keep Coming

Dessers has faced his fair share of criticism. We’ve all seen the struggles—going down too easily, not holding up play well enough. But again, Dessers reminded us why he was brought to Rangers. Two goals and winning the penalty that Tavernier coolly slotted home? Not bad for a night’s work! Sure, there’s still room for improvement in terms of physical presence, but it’s hard to argue when the scoreboard shows he’s the one delivering the goals.

Let’s hope as his confidence builds, Dessers can be a real force as this season progresses.

Jefte Becoming a Revelation at Left Back

One of the standout performers this season has to be Jefte. He continues to impress, and tonight was no different. His runs down the left flank caused all sorts of problems for Dundee, and his delivery for Dessers’ first goal was spot on. He’s quickly becoming one of the key players in this Rangers side. A smart signing and one to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

Tavernier Far From him Back to His Best, but Better.

A better day at the office for the skipper! Tavernier not only got on the scoresheet with a composed penalty but also added an assist for Dessers’ opener. And that standing ovation as he left the pitch? Nice to see after the negativity flying about in recent weeks.

There was, however, one moment that had us all holding our breath. A blind back pass nearly gifted Dundee a goal, only for Jack Butland to come to the rescue. It’s the sort of lapse that we’ve seen before, but with his confidence seemingly on the rise, we hope that’s just a blip in an otherwise decent performance.

Bajrami – Looking Good on the Left, but Better in the 10?

Nedim Bajrami is showing great promise as he continues to settle in at Ibrox. His assist was excellent, and his movement looked sharp throughout. However, there’s a growing feeling that he’s more suited to the number 10 role than being deployed out wide.

It’s a good problem to have, though, especially with Tom Lawrence upping his game lately. Competition is fierce, but that only pushes our players to perform better. The battle for that creative midfield spot will be one to watch.

Midfield Engine Room – Barron Solid, Sterling Struggles

Barron continues to look like a crucial cog in this Rangers team, controlling the tempo and keeping us moving forward with energy and precision. On the other hand, Sterling, playing in an unfamiliar central midfield role, seemed to struggle to influence the game. He’s looked a little off in recent weeks, and maybe a return to his natural right-back position could be the reset he needs.

Cerny Underwhelms, Igamane Excites

Vaclav Cerny didn’t have his best night in a Rangers shirt. Despite a few moments of promise, he lacked that final product and struggled to impose himself on the game. It’s still early days, though, and we know there’s more to come from the Czech international.

Meanwhile, young Hamza Igamane once again showed flashes of brilliance. His close control, sharp movement, and hunger for goal make him an exciting prospect. He’s knocking on the door for more playing time, and it feels like just a matter of time before he finds the back of the net.

Kasanwirjo Debuts with Promise

Kasanwirjo got his first taste of Rangers action late in the game, and while Dundee didn’t offer much to test him, the new signing looked composed and assured. He’s got the power and pace to be a real asset at the back, and we can’t wait to see more of him as he settles in.

On to Hampden We Go!

So, Rangers are back to winning ways at Ibrox, and we’re heading to Hampden for the semi-final. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season, and with players starting to find their rhythm, we can feel optimistic about what lies ahead. The energy is building, and with the team coming together, who’s to say we can’t go all the way and defend our trophy?
