Hello, fellow Rangers fans! Here is the big question at the moment.

Can Rangers Guarantee they will Play at Ibrox for Euro Group Games or will we be heading to Hampden?

The excitement of European nights at Ibrox is something we all look forward to, but this year, we might be facing a bit of a twist. As many of you already know, the beloved Ibrox is currently under some extensive work on the Copland Road Stand, causing a race against time to have it ready for the upcoming Champions League qualifiers and domestic games.

The latest buzz is that our Gers are on the brink of finalising a deal to kick off the new season at Hampden Park. This means we’ll be seeing our team play the Champions League third round qualifier at the national stadium, along with at least two domestic league matches. And if the renovations drag on, we might even witness a Champions League or Europa League playoff game at Hampden before August wraps up.

Tricky Situation for Rangers regarding UEFA Rules

Now, here’s where things get a bit tricky. UEFA rules, particularly Article 25, are quite clear about the location of group stage matches. It states that all home games in the group stage must be played at the same venue, unless special permission is granted to switch mid-phase. This rule is in place to ensure consistency and fairness across the tournament.

What does this mean for us? If Ibrox isn’t ready by the UEFA deadline, even if it gets the green light later, we might have to play all our European group stage games at Hampden to avoid breaching UEFA regulations. So, there’s a real possibility that our Euro nights could be spent away from our home ground for a bit longer than we’d like.

Rangers Suspend Continuous Credit Card Scheme

Rangers have also communicated with season ticket holders, confirming that the continuous credit card scheme will not apply for matches at Hampden. This suggests that the club is preparing for various scenarios and is offering some flexibility regarding ticketing for these games.

Reading between the lines, does this mean the club is bracing for the likelihood of playing away from Ibrox for an extended period? It certainly seems that way. The decision not to run the continuous credit card scheme could be a strategic move to accommodate potential changes in the fixture locations.
